Weekend:

Our vibrant parish, 11th largest in the Diocese of Sioux City, offers three weekend Masses for our 700 households. As of July 2009, Oyens St. Catherine became a mission parish for St. Mary's, with one weekday Mass and one Sunday Mass. Please come and join us!

Saturday vigil: Oyens St. Catherine 4:00 p.m., Remsen St. Mary's 5:30 p.m.

Sunday morning: St. Mary's 7:30 and 10:00 a.m.

Holy Days: please inquire (712-786-1437; This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Confession available ½-hour before Mass and by appointment; Reconciliation room located in southwest corner of church proper.

Handicapped parking/entrance ramp located on south side of church.

Wheelchair seating on front right (south) side in front of side pews. The front two side pews are spaced extra wide to accommodate those using walkers, canes, crutches, etc. Holy Communion will be brought over to those seated in this area.

Restroom: We have a new indoor restroom located near the northwest corner of the church (opposite the Reconciliation Room).

Directions: Remsen's main boulevard (Washington Street) runs north and south through the center of Remsen. From Washington, turn east on 3rd or 4th Streets and go one block. Better yet, simply keep driving toward the impressive steeple, visible from over six miles out of town! Oyens St. Catherine: 205 Catholic Street, church sits adjacent to County Road K-64 on the north edge of town.

Daily:

St. Mary’s has a strong Sacramental life and daily Mass is our cornerstone. Our pastors have always expressed amazement and gratitude for the approximately 75 parishioners (often many more) who are daily – or very frequent – communicants. Accordingly, Fr. Bill has generously added an evening Mass on his day off (Monday evening; held at Oyens St. Catherine). Father also normally holds a Mass for reparation of sin on First Saturdays; 7:45 a.m.

Monday evening: Oyens St. Catherine, 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday: St. Mary's, 7:45 a.m.

Wednesday: 7:45 a.m.; at St. Mary's High School cafeteria (2 blocks north of Hwy. 3 on Kennedy St.) during academic year and at church during summer.

Thursday: St. Mary's, 8:20 a.m. elementary school Mass during academic year; 7:45 a.m. during summer.

Friday: St. Mary's 7:45 a.m., followed by Eucharistic Adoration, 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; 10:00 Mass at Happy Siesta Retirement Home, 423 Roosevelt St. (west of Remsen-Union Schools, SE corner of Remsen).

Cluster Masses:

Marcus Holy Name (11 miles east), Fr. Armand Bertrand (in residence, Cherokee): Sat: 4:00 p.m., Sun: 10:45 a.m. Phone: (712) 376-2628. Address: 102 North Elm Street, Marcus IA 51035

Other area churches: Le Mars (St. Joseph, St. James); Granville (St. Joseph); Alton (St. Mary), Kingsley (St. Michael). See www.masstimes.org for Mass times, addresses, contact information, etc.
